DON’T FOG. DUNK.

NON-TOXIC TARGETED CONTROL // NO SPRAYS NO FOG // PET & POLLINATOR SAFE // 360° BACKYARD PROTECTION // THE SMARTER ALTERNATIVE

Got Mosquitoes?

Pollinator, People, Pet, & Plant Friendly

Looks like a planter.

Stops mosquitos.

How It Works

The Backyard Back Mosquito Control System:

Looks Like a Planter.  Stops Mosquitos.

Female mosquitoes instinctively seek standing water to lay eggs.

Our Mosquito Control Planters turn that instinct into a trap—drawing them in and eliminating larvae with a natural soil bacterium before they mature.

This eco-friendly approach stops the breeding cycle at the source—without toxic sprays or foggers.

Fogging vs. Dunking

Traditional Fogging

1-3 Weeks MAX Protection

  • Kills nearly all insects it touches—including bees, butterflies, fireflies, and caterpillars

  • Disrupts the food chain (baby birds rely on hundreds of caterpillars each day)

  • Only targets adult mosquitoes—larvae keep hatching

  • Chemical sprays can drift into neighboring yards

  • Short-lived results that require repeat treatments

  • Can cost up to $80 every visit

Don't just believe us!  Hear from the expert, Dr. Doug Tallamy, Professor of Entomology at The University of Delaware, Founder of Homegrown National Park, and author of the  NY Times Best Seller, Nature's Best Hope. Dr. Tallamy is a huge proponent of using mosquito dunks over fogging to combat mosquitos in your yard. Watch a quick video from Dr. Tallamy here.

  • Targets mosquitoes without harming beneficial insects

  • Safe for pollinators, pets, and children

  • Odorless—no sprays, no lingering chemical smell

FOGGING TREATS THE SYMPTOMS.

MOSQUITO CONTROL PLANTERS STOP THE PROBLEMS.

Directions for Use

  1. Fill the planter halfway with water.

  2. Add hay, straw, leaves and/or or grass clippings to create an ideal swamp-like breeding environment.

  3. Add 1/4 of a Mosquito Dunk.

  4. Add your favorite 4" plant to the center of the lid.

  5. In a few days, your bucket will begin attracting egg-laying mosquitoes.

  6. It will take 2-3 weeks to complete the larvae cycle. It is best to place your buckets outside before the season starts to stop the breeding cycle as early as possible.

  7. Refresh the Planter every month by adding 1/4 Dunk to the exisitng water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn how Backyard Back mosquito control planters work to protect your yard without harsh sprays or fogging.

How do Backyard Back mosquito control planters work?

Our planters attract female mosquitoes looking to lay eggs. Inside, a bacteria called Bti targets mosquito larvae in the water, stopping them before they become biting adults.

What is Bti and is it safe?

Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) is a naturally occurring bacteria that only affects mosquito, black fly, and fungus gnat larvae. It does not harm people, pets, birds, fish, or pollinators when used as directed.

Will this harm bees, butterflies, or other pollinators?

No. Bti works in water and only targets mosquito larvae. Pollinators do not develop in water, so they are not affected by our planters.

Is it safe for kids and pets to be around the planters?

Yes. Our system is designed for family backyards. When used as directed, it’s safe around children, dogs, and other household pets.

How much area does one planter cover?

One planter is designed to help protect about 100 sq. ft. For larger patios or yards, we recommend our multi-planter sets for better coverage.

How long does each treatment last?

Each dunk treatment typically works for up to 30 days. Check your water level regularly and refresh according to the directions on your specific product.

Do I still need fogging or spraying if I use these planters?

Our system is designed to tackle mosquitoes at the source so you can rely less on broad, toxic sprays. Many customers use the planters as their primary mosquito control method.

Where should I place my planters for best results?

Place them around areas where you spend time outdoors—near patios, seating areas, and along shady edges of your yard—spacing them according to the coverage guidelines for your set.
